My New Scrap Space

makes me happy!! I want to be in there right now, but I have to work... well, taking a small break from work to post my happiness!! I don't have an entire room dedicated, but, I've got about 1/3. There's also a sofa and a TV, coffee table... it's supposed to be our "formal" living room, but, since we don't "formally" entertain anyone, we don't use the space much.

I had my DH put up the shelves I bought, and I happily placed all my scrap stuff on them. So much more room for more stuff! LOL! I can actually scrap on the desk now. I had everything on it before, it was over flowing.

Originally, I was going to move into the basement, but, after putting a basketball hoop electronic game down there for the kids, I realized how cold it is down there in the winter time. I'd freeze. Plus, who wants to keep running up and down the steps every time I need to do something on the computer... this way I just have to walk a few steps.

Here are my pictures. We did a travel theme in this room, and I wasn't about to repaint, so I just worked with it, and I think the black shelves are cool. It's a very cozy room, we've dubbed it "The Fire Room".

Just some random shots:

I have been working on Apple Macintosh, now lovingly called "Macs" since 1988. (yeah, that long). Sweet, sweet Macintosh. I've never understood why people use those "other" computers. First off, they were ugly, clunky and you had to type code in to even get a program window. All of us Mac geeks had to laugh when Windows 95 came out. Ummm, Mac's been doing that since day one! What's the big deal.

Anyway, I have a new love... I'm totally smitten... this baby is sweet

Isn't it stunning? It's the new Mac Airbook. OMG, I love it.

Sweet.... sigh... we just bought my iMac in May, so, I don't need a new computer, and we already have a Powerbook, so we don't even "need"a laptop. Matt has a relatively new iMac as well, so we're good. We have 3... but, Macs are like kids, right, once you have 2, what's another one or 2? LOL!

Here's more info, but I'm sure you've seen the commercials....

Here's my other dream... more attainable and I actually NEED this. I may have a catalog shoot to do.... yep, and this sure would come in handy.

Either the Nikon D40 or D80. I'm a Nikon girl. We had a Nikon, well, we still have it, digi camera when it first came out in 2002.

Well, my husband is slaving away on "real" work while I type on my blog... so productive I am. Better get to work, a dermatologist brochure awaits me. (fun)

Is this LOAD thing done yet????

OK, only 6 more Lay Out A Day to go... I say 6 because I haven't done my LO for today -- yet.... eeek.

So, I spent my week working hard, taking photos for a fence company, and they came out really bad. I need some real camera equipment. I need some lights with the umbrella to take these shots of the most exciting products I get to shoot. Yep, the life of a person in advertising is so exciting, so sexy - um yeah, only on TV, where they are doing photoshoots for lipstick or clothes, not PVC fencing and sandpaper products... those are my clients. Fun. It pays the bills.

That's why I like to scrap... the subjects are much more inspiring!

I'm working on my first mini Album. I'm lovin' how it's turning out. Only 5 more pages to go, so that will count for 3 LOADs! I did a card yesterday, too bad that doesn't count for the LOAD.

Here's my mini album cover:

It's a Basic Grey bracket album. I think next time I'll choose something square!

Don't know what to call this post....

I just wanted to put up some of the LOAD things that I've been working on. One is a mini album, so I'll post that one at one time. I'm having fun with the LOAD, even if I don't win anything. It's been very inspiring. I'm inspired to scrap more, and it's even translated over into my everyday work, and I've been getting more done with that... which is pretty amazing, to work a full 8 hours (OK about 5 LOL!) on my graphic design stuff, then turn around and crank out a layout for the LOAD stuff.

Here's what I've been doing:
Traditional paper scrapbooking:

Non-traditional digi scrapping:

And, just for kicks, I'll throw in what I've been doing for work, it's an invitation for a local Jaguar dealership for the kick off of the new Jaguar XF .... and I did everything, nothing was stock. I love how it turned out, and they did, too.

Finally, someone appreciates what I do rather than rip it apart! Some clients! Oi vay! Gotta wonder what goes thru their heads.

This Post is Dedicated to My Mom...

I just wanted to take a minute to thank all of you for your prayers and heartfelt PM's that I've received these last few months while my mom was getting chemo for stomach cancer.

Sadly, my mom passed away on December 27, 2007. The chemo didn't work, and the cancer was very, very aggressive. It's all very sad. She was only 61, and it hurts everyday, and everyday I miss her. She was my best friend, my shopping buddy, and the person I always turned to for advice on millions of things. She taught me everything. How to cook, clean, sew... she was a great mom, and an even better grandmother.

I haven't wanted to talk about it and it's still very hard. With that I leave you with a layout I did for her service:

More Load Stuff

I'm keeping up with the LOAD layouts, although there's probably no chance that I'll win, seeing that there's around 3000 people participating. I don't know if everyone is uploading a layout a day or not, but, I'm still doing it.

It really has given me a push to use a lot of the product that I buy. Plus, I'm getting a ton of layouts done.

Another added bonus, is it's really gotten me back into the swing of things for work. I've been so out of it lately, with Christmas and my mom and everything that has happened. It's been rough, but, things are slowly going back into the routine...

So, here are a couple of LOAD layouts that I did, both are digi, it's just faster for me, and I had a lot of "real" work to do this week!

The bottom is an 8 1/2 x 11, just turned to landscape.

Cuppa Joe

I just love a good cup of coffee, so I thought I'd scrap about it. I took these pictures back in July, but haven't scrapped them yet. But, since I'm working on the LOAD over at Big Picture Scrapbooking... I think I'll need to use them. I've done 7 scrap LO's so far. Wow, that's a lot for me! I'm lucky to do 7 a month. This has really given me a push to use all the products that I buy from the enabling that goes on over at CKMB! LOL!

Here's the coffee picts...

And my favorite mug that I use everyday...

And, a couple of my LOAD projects...

LOADs of fun....

It's the beginning of a new year... I sure hope it's better than the last. It totally sucked. But, I won't go into that now.

Anyway, I joined the Big Picture Scrapbooking Class called LOAD or Lay Out A Day. For 31 straight days I will try to do a layout, every day. So far, so good. I've done 3.

Here was mine for today. Oh, this is my favorite layout so far, not so much for how it looks, but because it was so fun to make. I used an overlay that I'd been saving and I almost didn't use it, then I thought, why not, they're only like 65 cents. Ripped up some cardboard, glued on paper... and it's my first hybrid, because I used a frame overlay on top of the photo.

So, without any further adieu here it is:
