Sick Puppy

My big dog Sophie is really, really sick. Yesterday, very early in the morning she woke us up scratching at her crate to go out. She doesn't normally do this. So, my husband got up and let her go. She had very loose bowels and she vomited blood. He had given her a rawhide chew the night before, and most of it was thrown up in her cage.

We called the vet yesterday, told them what happened and said she seemed like she was feeling better, so we'd watch her. We didn't give her any food. The vet said they'd be open until 6. My DH gave her about 1/2 cup of dog food. She's pretty big, say about 65-70 pounds, so she normally eats about 1 1/2 cups twice a day. She was OK, until about 6:15, when her meal came up... I feel so bad for her. First thing this morning, she was OK, fed her a small amount again... and then around 1 she threw it all up. Then some blood, OK a lot of blood. I was in a total panic. I called the vet and they said bring her immediately. We drove there as fast as we could. She threw up blood twice in the back seat. I am so not the nurse type, so I was gagging... I cannot handle that stuff. Thankfully we have leather seats, so it wiped off. We had a roll of paper towels with us. (sorry for those of you with a weak tummy)

When we got there we had to wait a bit, then they took her in to X-ray around 2:30. Nothing was lodged in her stomach. Dr. Stas thought maybe her stomach lining was irritated and the capillaries were bleeding. He gave her a shot to stop the vomiting. While the tech was explaining about the antibiotics and the other pills that we would have to give her, she threw up again. It looked like almost a cup of blood. I don't think they knew how much was coming up when we said she threw up blood. They looked a little panicked, which freaks me out. They suggested that she stay overnight, and I'm like yes. So, he said he'd give her an IV and run some blood tests.

My DS just loves, loves, loves this dog. For the record, we all do. But he would probably be the most devastated if anything happens. I sure hope when we call tomorrow morning that everything is OK. I'm telling, only God knows what this dog could have eaten to cause this. She eats everything... if that is what caused it. I'm not so sure now. Maybe she has some kind of intestinal thing. I just hope and pray that they can fix her. She really is a sweetie.

Here she is with my DS. She's the big dog, the little one is our pug Louie.

And here she is looking very sad.

Please pray that she's OK. I know she's just a dog, but she's family to us.

Wow, 2 posts in one day, must be...

A lunar eclipse!

I'm proud of these pictures from my little Olympus Camedia, that is only 3.2 mega pixel. Has a great lens, tho.

They look better in photoshop than what you see here. You can't see the stars.

And here's what happens when you don't use a tripod....
(too much caffeine maybe?)

Night!

Too Funny

OMG! Every time I do my celebrity look-alike, I get either a person of Asian decent or a young teenage boy. Now is that funny or what? So, I tried another pose, and I got Beyonce. I can live with that... better than William Moseley (kid from the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe).

Do you think I look like William Moseley?

Here's my daughter's celebrity look a like collage...

And, my son is Jack Black...

And, my husband... looks like Matthew Fox... yeah baby!

Making some cards

Just thought that I'd put up my latest creations. I made a couple of cards using the same pattern. I used my Silhouette to cut out the scalloped edge. I love the scalloped look. I used a K&Co. paper pack, very shabby chic looking. I also cut out the letters with the Silhouette, and used my new favorite font Oklahoma from Dafont. Really cute. Sort of reminds me of the American Crafts Platform Thickers.

I think I'm going to get a lot of use out of my Silhouette... love it. I'm going to try my hand at designing and cutting out some lace paper, like KI Memories makes. I love the numbers one they have and the flowers, and the swirls! They're all cute. The only bad thing is it's limited to 8 1/2 x 11. Go figure.

Here are the cards, sorry the lighter one is a bit blurry.

Valentine's Day, Tagged & A Garbage Box

Valentine's Day was pretty boring around here. We all have a touch of the flu. I felt pretty icky all day. My DH was worse off... aren't they always tho? Men just can't handle having a cold or pain like women. Trust me, I know, I had 2 babies! LOL!

So, I was tagged by Angie - craftyscrapr a while back, and am finally getting around to playing... sorry it took so long.

Here are the rules:

1. You have to post the rules before you give your answers.

2. You must list one fact about yourself beginning with each letter of your middle name. (If you don't have a middle name, use your maiden name).

3. After you are tagged, you need to update your blog with your middle name and your answers.

4. At the end of your blog post, you need to tag one person for each letter of your middle name. (Be sure to leave them a comment telling them they've been tagged and that they need to read your blog for details).

so here is mine:

M - magnanimous (means noble & generous in spirit, tough time finding an M word)
A - artistic
R - reserved - till I get to know you
I - independent
E - everything (I'm sure every mom feels this way, because we are the mom, the wife, the chauffeur, business owner, scrapper!, maid, friend, daughter, lover, rockstar (in my own mind!), gardener, grocery shopper, homework helper... ok, you get the idea!

Gotta go "tag" 5 people, thank goodness it wasn't my first name, it has 9 letters!!!

1. ScrapbookingPrincess
2. Miss Onigur
3. Planet
4. Marfa
5. 4guysandagirl

There you go, my 5 tags... hope they can play.

----------

My DS who is 9, made an anti-Valentine's Day box. He didn't bring it home yesterday after school, we asked where it was and all he replied was "it's displayed." So, who knows. I think he had waaaay too much sugar yesterday. He was his happy normal self this morning.

How Many Buttons - RAK

I bought some cute stuff, and want to share. I also have an extra Mike's Valentine's stamp to give away and some Red Stickles.... hope you can play.

Here's what you have to do, guess how many buttons I have in my button tin, and post it in a comment on my blog. The person who gets the closest or hits it right on, wins. If there are 2 guesses that are the same, the person that posted first, wins.

I'll pick a winner Sunday Feb. 10 after midnight EST. Here is my button tin, good luck! :-)

Double Tagged... and a tutorial

I've been tagged! Twice in a week, the first was by Alina B. L., so now I have to tell you 7 interesting things about me... let's see (I don't know how interesting these will be), I'll do the next tag later on.

1. I can remember things from when I was a baby, I remember being in the play pen, and feeling very angry when my mom put me in there... my cousins were there and I wanted to play with them.

2. I got married when I was 24, and we'll be married 16 years this May... you do the math! (24 seems so young to me now!)

3. I've only been scrapbooking for the past year and a half or so. But, I love it. I thought it was just gluing pictures and stickers on cardstock... that's so not scrapbooking!

4. I love to decorate my house.

5. I love to garden.

6. I wrote a children's book, but I'm patiently waiting for my DH to illustrate the pictures so that I can shop it around to get it published.

7. I've also written a few short stories... I fantasize about being a novelist. ;-)

Now, I must tag some folks, so here they are:

Happy Scrappy Sam - Samantha
Christina - inara
Pamela - Pamela
Tara - http://tinawhitney.blogspot.com/
Melegs - http://ericasdoingsomethingelse.blogspot.com/

I hope they play! All they have to do, is post 7 interesting things about themselves on their blogs. ;-)

Also, yesterday I did a non-LOAD layout! Took a couple days off. But, I thought I'd share a trick I use for how to select your lettering for a title before you stick it down and to make sure it will fit.

Here's the slide show

Here's what you do.
Select the letter stickers that you want to use. Get some tracing paper or vellum, then trace out your title. Now place your title over your layout. This will show you how your title will look and where you'd like to place it. If it looks good, now you're ready to place your letters down. But, don't place them right on the layout. Take a ruler and place the edges of the stickers on the ruler. Once you do that, you can now move it around on your layout for perfect placement. Then just stick it down.

I had a little dilemma with my title, I only had one "G" and I needed two. So, I took the outline of the "G" after I used the first one, and cut it out and placed it. It worked perfectly here because it didn't cover up the photo.

Here's the end result, and some close ups:

Another thing I did, rather than just stick these Gettysburg stickers right on the cardstock where they might get lost, I put them on some paper covered chipboard, and made my own embellie out of them.

Happy Ground Hog Day!

And indeed it was! And, not because the little bugger saw his shadow.... 6 more weeks of winter.... grrrr.

No, it was because I went to Michael's today and found some glorious scrapbooking things!! They have a new line from Making Memories called Chelsea's Place... OMG, it's too cute. I'm going back tomorrow with my 40% off Jo's coupons, since my Mike's will take them, and I'm gonna get me some more schtuff!!

Here's all I picked up today, because I'm so addicted to these pebble clips, and have been totally looking for the Love story ones, to no avail.

Sorry it's not the greatest picture — I scanned them in. Cute tho, don't ya think?
