Wow, this is one of my passions. Maybe because I had some rough times growing up, but this is something very close to my heart.
Cosmo Cricket will donate one dollar for every commenter up to $1,000 (to their local food bank). We've never come close to reaching that number before, but if you all help us get the word out, I think we might do it. What do you say?

Incidentally, we do design work for our local foodbank, and they are in the midst of doing a campaign with posters to let people know that they can go there to get food. You don't need anything special. Some people are embarrassed, or think they aren't poor enough. So, the campaign is to let them know that there are people that can help, can tide you over until your next paycheck. It's a shame that in the United States there are people out there that have to make decisions between keeping a roof over their heads or eating.
Take this one step further, if you can... after you leave your comment at Cosmo, why not donate some non-perishable food items to your local food pantry this week. They are in need of things like canned goods, cereals, pastas, and even things like soap, toothpaste, and other toiletries. If you would rather not cart a bunch of stuff, they will always take a monetary dontation.
If you don't have anything to donate, how about your time? Our local foodbank has a program called "gleaning". In the fall after all the "good" sellable vegetables have been picked, volunteers come in and pick the non-sellable, but very edible vegetables, and they get donated to the needy. It's a nice way to give back even if you can't afford to make food or monetary donations.
That's it for today. Wow, did Cosmo light a fire under my butt today!!
Have a great day.
